How accurate are the conversions?

Why are there different gallon sizes?
US gallons (3.78L) differ from Imperial gallons (4.54L). We use US gallons by default.
Is KB 1000 or 1024 bytes?
We use binary (1024). For storage, manufacturers often use 1000, which is why "1TB" drives show less space.
